Are projector screens measured diagonally

Are projector screens measured diagonally

Yes — projector screens, like TVs, are measured diagonally from one corner of the visible screen area to the opposite corner. For example, a 120-inch screen means the diagonal viewable surface is 120 inches, not the width or height.

When shopping, it’s also important to check the aspect ratio (16:9, 4:3, 2.35:1, etc.), because the same diagonal size can give very different width and height depending on the format.

👉 Quick example:

A 120" 16:9 screen is about 105" wide x 59" tall.

A 120" 4:3 screen is about 96" wide x 72" tall.

So yes, diagonal measurement is the industry standard — but always consider both diagonal size and aspect ratio to make sure the screen fits your space.
